Sweet, Sweet Summer!

Thought of the Day:
"Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination."
- Mark Twain

After a long, tedious, and nightmarish semester, summer is finally here! And that makes for one, happy Brittany! I've learned a lot this semester, but the most important thing is (or one of the most important things) is to never, EVER, take an online class. Ugh. Just typing about it is making me want to hurl.
Anyways, this summer is going to be awesome.

On Friday, I am leaving for Utah for two weeks (keep in mind this is the FIRST state I've ever been to other than California). I'm pretty stoked. The EVMCO and OCMCO groups are going up to SLC to record "Messiah in America". We are also having a performance in the Salt Lake Tabernacle (tickets for it sold out in 20 minutes!!!) I am so excited and can't believe that I am a part of such an amazing group. My family and I will also go to Yellowstone!

In late July Mimi, Shelby, Amber, and I are going to the San Diego Comic-Con and Disney Land. This year will be a girls-only trip seeing as our two movie buddies are off serving their missions at the moment.

In between all the road trips I am making it a goal of mine to watch as many movies as I can and to read as many books that is humanly possible. To kick the summer off right, I've started re-reading the Harry Potter books. I've forgotten how funny those books are!

Oh, Summer of 2011...We're going to be best friends, I can already tell! :)

Two Weeks!

Thought of the Day:
"Every artist was first an amateur"
  -Ralph Waldo Emerson

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Attention everybody!! Summer is just two glorious weeks away!! Or just one week away if you have early finals :P I cannot wait. Oh to be free of my stupid online class! Maybe online classes are okay, but online HONORS classes are no bueno. Blech.

Anyways. As many of you know, my sister is amazing at pretty much everything she does. She is a photographer with such a good eye, she also makes dang good videos. Well, I was always super bored and sad whenever I went on photo shoots with her, so my wonderful parents got me a good digital camera to play around on. It's no Canon 7D, but it's a Canon with 12.1 MP! So, I can't complain :)

My sister was trying to explain to me a while back that if you are an artist in anyway, you've pretty much got the "eye" for another kind of art. Well, seeing that I'm a musician and all.. I like to think that she's right haha. I recently went to Disneyland with my little camera and came home with some pretty decent shots.

I'm not going to let any "haters" out there make me feel bad about me just getting into photography. I'm going to do what makes me happy. And right now, that's taking fun pictures and editing them. Once I've edited all of them, I really want to make a cool video with them. :)

P.S. World of Color was amazing! I was totally not expecting something so awesome.

Six More Weeks!

Thought of the Day:

"We always strive after what is forbidden, and desired the things refused us."
   - Ovid

I've officially decided that I HATE Spring Break. I mean sure, it's great to be school free for a whole week...but going BACK to school is the worst! I've had a whole week of freedom, and it got taken away from me. What jerks. This week, my mantra shall be, "Six more weeks, Brittany. Six. More. Weeks."
Since I can't seem to get summer and freedom off of my mind, I've decided to make a list of what I'll be doing will all my free time in 6 weeks.

- Take random trips to the beach.
- Concert. It. UP!
- Finish Lost. I've been on the end of the fourth season forever now!
- See every single movie out in theaters. I get free tickets, why not?
- Re-read all the HP books. Yes, I'm a Harry Potter nerd. Deal with it.
- Finish reading all the books I have checked out from the library.
- Get a "real job".
- SLEEEEEEP!!!
- Have a social life. My stupid online class and it's stupid Saturday night deadlines this semester is        seriously cramping on my social life.
- Practice my pianos and cellos.
- Work a ton and make tons of money! Haha, like that's even possible at a movie theater. I guess my plasma donating job is going to have to stay for a while.

There's so much more that's on my list....This will have to do for now, though. ;)

Chivalry Is NOT Dead...It's Mostly Dead.

Thought of the Day:
"What you do speaks so loud I cannot hear what you say"
 - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I can tell this semester is going to be great. I am taking DAW II (I loved DAW I so much!), Electronic Music (I have to admit, I'm super nervous for this class...), my honors class Women In Film, and of course French 102. I have the perfect schedule, my classes are très amusante et intéressante....it's going to be a great semester :)

On another note, chivalry is not dead, it's mostly dead. I was at a "party" a few weeks ago with some friends, we were going to watch movies. The room was pretty full and all the chairs were taken by the time I got there. I know I've been watching Jane Austen films a lot lately, but correct me if I'm wrong.. aren't guys supposed to offer their seat to girls when there aren't any??? Well....I guess not, I got in the room and stood against the wall and made some awkward eye contact with "men" who knew what the polite thing to do was and guess what? They DIDN'T DO IT! Instead, I spent the night on hard floors with a lovely back ache to keep me company.

HOWEVER! Last weekend I was at a "party" and again, all the seats and couches were taken. My (female) friend comes into the room and sits on the floor but ONE nice young man stands up and offers her his seat. It was so happy-making that everyone in the room cheered applauded him for his chivalry.

Any and all good deeds done by ANYONE should be rewarded. Let's bring back politeness and chivalry!

Freedom!

Thought of The Day:
"There is time for everything"
  - Thomas A. Edison

School is finally over! Well, the semester is at least. So far, I know that I have two A's...let's hope all my hard work has paid off and my 4.0 GPA will not be ruined! How shall I reward myself for all my dedication to education? I've made a list.

1. Read, read, and read some more!
2. Catch up on Friday Night Lights.
3. Catch up on my REM sleep.
4. Get back into "workout mode".
5. Clean my room, and KEEP it clean.
6. Update myself on all the music blogs I follow.
7. Get better (I've had this nasty cold (?) thing since like September..)
8. Oh ya, maybe I'd better become social again! :)

The list can get pretty long, so I'll stop there.

I have learned so much this semester. I feel pretty awesome when working with DAW's..and heck of a lot better with technical stuff! I'm no longer super scared of recording consoles...well, maybe a I'm still a little scared. I feel pretty darn sexy when speaking français. Paris, here I come! Although psychology definitely isn't my thing, I really appreciate it (maybe not honors psychology!). Plus, without that class I would have never known that I have a INFJ personality!

Vampire-Zombie Apocalypse

Thought of the Day:

Warning: The contents of this blog may be considered violent/and or disturbing. Read at your own risk.

I have always been known to have crazy "Picasso" dreams, meaning they never make sense or are completely random, like one time it was the zombie apocalypse and I was able to save my friends and family from them..it was totally like Zombieland. Kinda. Usually, in my dreams I am able to fly... kinda. It's more like swimming, but in the air..? I can't really explain it, but if you get it..you've earned your gold wings and 25 house points for Gryffindor. ANYWAYS..The other night I had the CRAZIEST dream!
I was just flying around the city at night, no biggie, when I noticed some guys fighting in the alley. So, I went to check it out, and me being in a dream, I decided to help this one (attractive) guy fight off these 3 men...and we ended up killing them, no biggie. Me and the attractive man were talking and I learned that he was a vampire and we were battling some other vamps. He noticed that I got bit by one of the guys during the fight, and before I knew it... I was a VAMPIRE! (Ya, totally painless, unlike Stephanie Meyers' vamps!) Since I was a vampire, I had to run away from my family and live with this sexy vampire man, who became my new hot boyfriend :) Let's call him Jace (it may or may not have something to do with Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instrument series..).
Me and Jace were just chillin' in the room he was renting from this lady, when this said lady appeared in the room all creepy-like. Jace said 'She's a vampire, if we don't kill her, she will kill us!" She wasn't just a vampire, she was a ZOMBIE-VAMP! So he kills her, and we had to bash in her skull, otherwise she would just keep on "living". Jace and I thought it was really weird that our landlord turned all zombie-vamp on us, we've never seen that before!
We spent most of our time hanging out in his room. It was up on the upper level of the house and it was the highest room, so we were able to just walk out onto the roof from our window. I noticed there was a little boy waiting on the roof, looking in the window. I go over to talk to the boy and he starts trying to recruit me and Jace into his vampire team to fight off the "others", we thought he was talking gibberish and made him go away.
Later, my brother Alex came to visit us (so much for running away from my family), keep in mind that he still doesn't know that we are vamps. We were in our room, when I notice that there were like 10 zombie-vamps on the roof! Jace went out to "take care of them", I tried to distract Alex from seeing Jace go all "Sweeney Todd" on these people. But it was in vain, one of the zombie-vamps broke through our window, I told Alex to close his eyes and started to fight off this guy. Then another zombie-vamp came in and started to attack Alex, I told him that he could open his eyes and help me kill these guys! Don't worry, everything ended OK, the zombie-vamps had broken necks and bashed in skulls, Alex was alive. Of course, since he helped me I kinda had to tell him what we were, and all he said was "OK," he was strangely cool about it! Only in dreams, right? As we were talking, we discovered that Alex had a scratch/bite mark on his arm! Unfortunately, he turned into a vamp. But he was a good one, like us! And guess what? He was cool about it!
Alex, Jace and I just happened to be turned into normal vampires and we were ALL able to fly/swim in the air! The zombie-vamp population was increasing rapidly, and there were very little humans left. The streets were full of the zombie-vamps, just waiting to kill us. So we flew around town, attacking them from above.
We found a human shelter that promised safety from the zombie-vamps, so we decided to try it out. In order to be in the shelter, we had to pretend to be humans. Otherwise, the humans would kill us or leave us to the zombie-vamps! But there was a problem, upon entering the shelter it was mandatory that everyone get their blood tested to ensure that they were free of the zombie-vamp virus. They handed us needles to prick our fingers with, and were waiting in line to give them our BLOOD. Oh no! I started praying that we wouldn't be discovered (only I would pray in a dream...while I was a vampire, no less). It was time to give them our needles, and somehow they overlooked us! We were walking away from the table when I heard "Brittany!" I slowly turned around, bracing myself for the worst, and the nurse that called me said "you forgot your papers". Relief filled me, I grabbed the papers and made my way towards Jace and Alex.

After that I woke up. Who ever said that dreams only last a few seconds? If only I were able to finish that dream! Maybe, I'll write a book about it. Oh wait, somebody already wrote a book about vampires that she happened to dream of. Dang it.

Religion

Thought of the Day:
"Daily, constantly, we choose by our desires, or thoughts, adn our actions wheter we want to be blessed or cursed, happy or miserable."
- Ezra Taft Benson

Yes, I am writing a post about religion. If I come off as self-righteous, trust me, that is not my intention.

I am LDS because I chose to be LDS. Yes, I was born into the church and was raised by the LDS standards, but there comes a time where you must find your own faith because you can't depend on your parents faith forever. When I came to that fork in the road (everyone does), I chose to be a member of the church. I didn't do it for my family, parents, friends, peers. I did it for me. Even if I chose the opposite, those said people wouldn't care... Yes they would be sad, but they would still love me.
A few people I've had to talk to are convinced that religious people such as myself are brainwashed and ignorant because we've believed in something for our whole lives. I'm sorry they think such awful things about religious people. I'm sorry they choose not to listen. I'm sorry they wont know the feeling I get when I pray, read my scriptures, play music, or when I bear my testimony. I hope that one day, they might feel that passion... even if they don't feel it in the LDS church, I hope they feel it with any church, or with God!

HP7

Thought of the Day:
"Magic is Might"
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

First of all, yes, I did just do an HP quote..deal with it! Second of all, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was so good! I was seriously on edge throughout the whole movie. I don't think a 2.5 (ish) hour movie has ever held my attention for that long! With that being said, I am seriously thinking about re-reading the whole series.. after I buy a new set of course. Books 1-4 are so beat up and old that I can barely open up the books without pages falling out! I guess that's what you get when that's all you would read when you were little. :)
I love the HP books so much! I think it may be because I had this everlasting thirst to fight for what is right. To overcome whatever evil there is in the world and to change things for the better!! I think it's because I feel this way that I love books/movies such as HP, 1984, Hunger Games, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings, etc.
There were so many parts of the movie that reminded me of 1984 (Ministry of Magic... HELLO!!). After reading the series over again, 1984 is next! But only after I finish reading Fahrenheit 451 of course. :)

New subject: Judging
Seriously, it's bad.
Don't do it.
It's not fair to judge others before you even know them or their life story. Growing up, I've always had a difficult time fitting in with the Mormons in my school...or anywhere! Haha. Not just my peers, but even seminary teachers! Anyways, just be nice to everyone. Nobody deserves to be judged unfairly.
